“Hello.” Akua said, opening the door wider to Dominic’s surprise. The lady looked at her surprised. “Oh so you have company?” she asked. “Not really I was just leaving. Dominic see you at work on Monday ok?” Akua said slowly making her way out. “What? No, no don’t leave.” Dominic pleaded but this time her mind was made up so she left.
That night she received many messages from Dominic but she ignored all of them. She regretted kissing him. The kiss stirred up the feelings she had for him. The feelings she had done well at suppressing all the 2 years they had been working together. Dominic was a bit of a flirt but he was the most hardworking person she had ever seen. He was always positive minded and urged them all on all the time and she liked that a lot. Just before she went to sleep she sent him a text message that said, “Let’s forget what happened tonight. It was a mistake.”
The next day at work Akua tried as much as possible to avoid Dominic. Luckily, for her there was a lot to be done. At the end of the day instead of hanging out in the office to wait out the rush hour traffic she grabbed her bag and dashed out. Dominic saw her and followed her. Luckily for him he caught her just before she stopped a taxi. “Hey, let me give you a ride.” Dominic said when he parked his car next to her. Akua resisted but he insisted. “It’s the best I can do for being a jerk.” He said. Akua shook her heard. “You were not a jerk.” She replied. Dominic smiled. “If I wasn’t you wouldn’t be avoiding me. Please get in.” He said. Akua agreed and got into his car.
After driving in silence for a few minutes Dominic told Akua he was sorry. He knew it wouldn’t make much of a difference to her but he just wanted to try anyway. “Remember what I said? Let’s just forget about it.” Akua said, looking out the window. Dominic wanted to tell her how he felt about her. He had been wanting to for a long time and he realised if he did it that time she wouldn’t believe him. After all she probably thought he just wanted to sleep with her so he said nothing.
As they neared Akua’s house it started raining. Dominic parked in front of her house. “Thanks for the ride.” Akua said coldly and reached for the door. “I think you should wait out the rain a bit.” Dominic said. Akua turned to him. “Let me tell you something, I don’t particularly like what happened at your place. I’m seriously trying to forget about it so please don’t make this any harder than it has to be ok?” She snapped at him. “I’m sorry.” He said.
When Akua reached for the door she noticed it was locked. Then she turned to look at Dominic. He took a deep breath and opened his door. He rushed through the rain to her side of the car and opened the door for her. With his jacket over her head he lead her to her doorstep shielding her from the rain. Akua didn’t see any of this coming. When she was safely on her porch he said, “I am really sorry. If I knew how much it would hurt you I wouldn’t have missed you. I hope you can forgive me one day.” Then he went back into his car in the pouring rain. Akua stared at him as he left. She wanted to call him back. He was soaking wet but he drove off too fast.
